Does stress cause cancer? I have had 2 very catatrophic events in my life with my mother who was very ill the first time very close to death and the second she had a severe stroke 17 years apart.I was 25 the first episode developing severe cervical dysplasia and at 45 Barretts Esophagus causing dysplasia.I was under incredible stress taking care of my mother in addition to working and raising a family continuing my education etc.I did not choose all of these things at once it just happened. Is this called post traumatic stress? Also last year I had back surgery and 1 month later was in the hospital for a TIA. I have small vessel ischemia in my brain.I am too young for all of this.

  3. The formation of cancer is complicated and the triggers that enable each cancer varies with the type of cancer involved.
However, it is well known that inflammation is worsened with chronic toxic stress. Inflammation is a major influence in the formation of most chronic diseases and certainly makes cancer more likely. Therefore, it’s useful to think of chronic stress as a “welcome mat” to many diseases including cancer.
